There is no direct prohibition on the mobilization of men over the age of 49, - TRC

The Sumy TRC reported that there is no direct prohibition on the mobilization of men over 49 years old and explained the new conscription procedure.

Serhiy Monukalo, head of the mobilization and defence sector of the military commissariat, noted that men aged 50-60 can be conscripted with the written consent of military units under a special mobilization order. This mainly concerns units where there are no specific requirements for conscripts.

"This does not apply to assault troops, but to support units or the state special transport service," Monukalo explained.

Such conscripts undergo a military medical commission to determine their fitness, after which recruiters from the relevant units work with them, and interviews are conducted at the TRC. They are then assigned to a unit and designated a specific military specialty.

"The lists are then approved by the General Staff, and specific names are indicated in the mobilization order so that the person is assured they will not be sent to another unit or for another specialty," Monukalo stated.
