Ukraine received JDAM-ER guided bombs from Australia, - Media

"Australia has transferred Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended-Range (JDAM-ER) guided bombs to Ukraine after they were removed from the stockpiles of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)," the statement says.

In the Ministry of Defence’s guided munitions and explosive ordnance plan, which was published on October 30th, it was noted that Australia ceased using domestically produced Mk.82 500lb JDAM-ER munitions in 2021 simultaneously with the decommissioning of the F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet aircraft fleet.

"ADM can now confirm that at least part of this weaponry was later transferred to Ukraine as part of Australia’s support for the warring country. However, the timing of the munitions transfer to Ukraine remains unclear," the statement notes.

The publication claims that the first known use of JDAM-ER in Ukraine took place in March 2023; however, this weaponry was supplied by the United States. Only in April 2024 did Australia confirm the supply of unspecified air-to-ground munitions to Ukraine.

In July 2024, the Australian Ministry of Defence announced an additional donation of unspecified air-to-ground weapons as part of a $250 million package. 

It is known that Australia has joined the International Coalition of countries for the return of Ukrainian children.
