Zelenskyy: Putin set the goal of pushing Ukrainian troops out of Kursk region by Trump’s inauguration

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin aims to push the Ukrainian forces out of Russia’s Kursk region by a set date. This is January 20, 2025 — the day of the inauguration of the new US president.

Zelenskyy made this statement during a conversation with journalists at the 3rd International Conference on Food Security "Grain from Ukraine." Putin wants to demonstrate his control over the situation, but this does not correspond to reality.

"I am confident that he (Putin – Ed.) seeks to push us (out of the Kursk region – Ed.) by January 20. It is crucial for him to show that he holds everything under control. But in reality, this is not the case. The Kursk operation is serious. We have proven that he is unable to fully protect his state. He has focused all efforts on occupying and destroying Ukraine," said the head of state.

The President also emphasized that in the Kursk direction, Russia is currently experiencing losses unprecedented for them. He added that the most difficult situation remains in eastern Ukraine, where Putin is trying to achieve his "goals" — to occupy the entire Donbas and push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region.

"He (Putin – Ed.) wants to demonstrate that he will fulfill the so-called SVO tasks – to occupy the entire Donbas, and he needs to push us out of the Kursk direction. These are the two goals he has," Zelenskyy noted.
