To Ukraine from occupation returned 8 more children
On November 29, 8 children were successfully returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied territories of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson regions, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
This was reported by Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Ombudsman noted that the returned children are between 6 and 16 years old. Some of them have illnesses, so they were met in Ukraine by ambulances.
Among the children who returned is a boy who was in the "Oleshky Children’s Home" at the time of the Russian invasion. Its residents were taken by the occupying authorities to the city of Skadovsk and to Russia.
"Family circumstances and the lack of prospects for a good future for the children prompted the adults who had the little Ukrainians to take decisive actions — returning the children to the territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine," Lubinets reported.
He noted that 7 children were returned through the mediation of Qatar. Another boy was returned via a humanitarian corridor.
According to the Commissioner for Human Rights, the children will now receive medical assistance and will be able to see their parents and relatives.
"State bodies and public organizations will help the families enroll the children in school, provide psychological and humanitarian assistance, and facilitate social integration. Finally, the children will have a stable environment for growth," Lubinets noted.
The Ombudsman also urged, in the case of a missing child, to report it to the National Police by calling 102. If the child has been deported to Russia or is on temporarily occupied territory, in addition to the police, it is also worth reporting to the Ombudsman’s Office: hotline 0 800 50 17 20 — within Ukraine, 044 299 74 08 — for calls from abroad, email — [email protected].
