The deputy shared who is more often conscripted to the TRC in Ukraine
Member of Parliament Serhiy Rakhmanin noted that the airborne assault troops, naval infantry, and mechanized motorized infantry brigades are in dire need of young people, but the TRC is unable to incentivize them for mobilization.
Young Ukrainians are afraid of mobilization and avoid conscription, and instead of encouraging the youth, territorial recruitment and social support centers primarily mobilize men over the age of 40, stated member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, MP from the "Holos" faction Serhiy Rakhmanin on Radio NV.
According to Rakhmanin, after the adoption of the law to lower the mobilization age to 25, the rate of replenishment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine increased significantly, but the average age of the soldiers has not decreased.
"The youth mostly do not join the Armed Forces because they are afraid. These fears have both objective and subjective reasons. People are not sufficiently motivated, fear serious injuries, fear dying, are worried that they will not be properly trained and may become potential victims in the first weeks or even days at the front line. People fear falling under the command of inadequate commanders," stated the MP.
He added that the structures responsible for mobilization in Ukraine are not engaged in encouraging young people, and there is no comprehensive, professional, and effective recruitment in the country.
"The TRC formally perform their role — mobilizing those they can reach. Mostly, these are people aged 42–45+. And the youth do not appear," said Rakhmanin.
The parliamentarian noted that airborne assault troops, naval infantry, and mechanized motorized infantry brigades, which suffer the greatest losses due to active combat actions, especially need young servicemen capable of enduring high loads.
According to Rakhmanin, in training centers "it is difficult for individuals over 50 to overcome the obstacle course with full gear, it is quite a challenging test."
"Those who did not need encouragement and who wanted to come to the TRC themselves — have already come. And those who do not go need to be motivated. Is this being done comprehensively and systematically — no, it is not," emphasized the deputy.
In his opinion, for effective mobilization, it is necessary to involve psychologists, sociologists, PR, and media specialists.
"Obviously, this should be accompanied by more intensive training, professional work with personnel, this is quite understandable. But we have people sitting at desks, colonels with bellies, waiting for the youth to come and sign the contract. They won’t come," said Serhiy Rakhmanin.
