Crypto-preacher Andriy Mishchenko "lost" 70 million
A young man who aspired to a luxurious life was obliged by the state to pay taxes.
A Ukrainian blogger earned hundreds of millions of hryvnias from his followers by teaching cryptocurrency trading, but he failed to pay more than 70 million hryvnias in taxes to the budget.
Media sources say it is about Andriy Mishchenko.
This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax, and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev ("Servant of the People"). According to him, the blogger had 68,000 followers on the social network Instagram, whom he taught how to make money. But at the time of publication, that is already after the tax authorities’ claims, Mishchenko’s number of followers had decreased by a couple of thousand people.
"Unlike his colleagues, who generally teach what they don’t know, Andriy managed to earn well, albeit not in the way he taught his followers, on his page. And everything would have been fine if at least some minimal due taxes were paid from these earnings. But there, alas, were none," Hetmantsev explains.
The MP noted that employees of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police and the State Tax Service (STS) checked bank statements for all the blogger’s accounts. It turned out that he used "drops" — people who, for a reward, provided him access to their bank cards and accounts to bypass financial restrictions. They did not declare their incomes, so an additional 70.7 million UAH was tallied to them, but this amount is not final.
"But agree, it takes considerable entrepreneurial talent and courage bordering on brazenness to advertise a luxury life during a war without paying a single penny in taxes," concludes Danylo Hetmantsev.
According to tax sources, Mishchenko was obliged to pay nearly 68.3 million hryvnias. Considering the tax rate is 19.5%, his total income amounted to over 848.44 million UAH. Another 2.5 million UAH was tallied to his associate, Serhiy Kvitka.
It also turned out that the blogger himself, who taught his followers to earn from cryptocurrency trading, earned on "drops." Among them, two residents of the Zhytomyr region were discovered. They received significant sums of money into their bank accounts without declaring them, so they are also being involved in paying taxes.
