Switzerland will allocate tens of millions of euros to Ukraine to support its energy infrastructure
The Swiss government has provided Ukraine with a winter aid package worth 45 million Swiss francs (approximately 48 million euros).
The relevant information was published on the website of the country’s Federal Council.
The funds will be directed towards the restoration of energy infrastructure that was damaged as a result of Russian air strikes.
Part of the money will also be allocated for repairing damaged homes and to "meet the urgent humanitarian needs of Ukrainians."
"Deliberate attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure have devastating consequences. More than half of the country’s electricity production has been destroyed, leaving millions of people without adequate access to electricity, heating, and water. The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs are assisting authorities, local partners, and the UN in supporting Ukraine’s population this winter," stated the Federal Council.
