Zelenskyy: The number of killed and wounded North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region exceeds 3,000

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following a meeting of the Staff, noted that the number of dead and wounded North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region exceeds 3,000 people.

The head of the Ukrainian state reported this on the social network X.

“Today, there was also a report from Commander Syrskyi regarding the front and the areas of the Kursk operation. There are risks of deploying more soldiers and military equipment for the Russian army from North Korea, and we will provide tangible responses to this. According to preliminary data, the number of dead and wounded North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region already exceeds 3,000 people,” emphasized Zelenskyy.

According to the President, it is important for the world to realize that the risk of destabilization around the Korean Peninsula and in neighboring regions and waters is increasing in proportion to the growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

“The transfer of modern warfare experience and the spread of military technologies from Russia is a global threat. For the world, the cost of restoring stability is always significantly higher than the cost of effective pressure on those who destabilize the situation and destroy lives,” said the head of state.

As reported by Ukrinform, in October, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service stated that the North Korean regime decided to send 12,000 military personnel to support Russia in the war against Ukraine.

The US Department of Defence confirmed on November 26 that at least 12,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed in Russia to support the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine.

Russia began using North Korean soldiers in assault operations in the Kursk region, particularly as part of combined units of the Russian Navy and airborne troops.
