Service member Tymoсhko: Russia’s war against Ukraine will continue, the intensity of the fighting may increase

Throughout the first and second quarters of 2025, the intensity of hostilities may remain at the same level or even increase, considering the buildup of forces and means.

This was reported by the head of the Council of Reservists of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Ivan Tymochko on Espreso TV.

The army under Putin’s leadership did not achieve strategic successes in 2024, so Russia will try to seize the initiative. Negotiations will only begin with the intervention of leaders of countries capable of forcing Putin to cease hostilities, Tymochko believes.

"It is important what phase the war will be in 2025 - whether combat clashes will remain as intense as they are now, or if the war will transition into a permanent state of negotiation or fragile agreements. However, the war with Russia, in essence, will continue forever as long as Russia exists within its current borders. The Russian Federation will always attempt to take revenge until it conquers Ukraine. We have observed this for the past 10 years and throughout history since the times of the Moscow Tsardom. We need to accept this fact and be as prepared as possible. It is necessary to prepare the entire population to resist aggression. The more we educate, arm, unite our society, and adapt living conditions to war, the fewer chances Russia has to initiate new aggression against us," Tymochko noted.

In his opinion, the war in 2025 will become more technological. In 2024, new types of troops and weapons emerged in Ukraine, such as robotic and unmanned systems.

"More and more funds are being allocated to the war. America has allocated additional funds for arming Ukraine. The war in 2025 will continue, but we will have the ability to resist. Ukraine’s missile program has started functioning. Allies have established serial production of weapons. Several foreign factories have come to Ukraine with their equipment, such as Rheinmetall and Bayraktar. But Russia has also increased its military budget by 25 billion dollars for 2025. The war will not end quickly, even if negotiations begin. The process will be long and difficult," Tymochko concluded.
