Throughout the year, the Defence Forces eliminated occupiers equivalent to the size of 36 motorized rifle divisions

Throughout 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reduced the Russian Federation’s army by 430,790 personnel. This is equivalent to almost 36 motorized rifle divisions of the Russian army’s ground forces. Last year, the enemy suffered greater losses overall than in 2022 and 2023 combined.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

In 2024, the highest number of irrecoverable and sanitary losses in the aggressor’s manpower for a month was recorded in December 2024 – 48,670 military personnel. This is also the highest figure since the start of the large-scale invasion. Previous significant losses in Russian army manpower were recorded by the end of November 2024 – 45,720.

Last year was also productive in terms of destroying enemy equipment. The warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed and damaged 3,689 enemy tanks. This number is equivalent to 119 tank battalions. The most tanks were destroyed in May – 428 units. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on May 12 alone, our units destroyed 31 occupiers’ tanks, which is equivalent to the strength of a tank battalion.

Russian army combat armored vehicles were destroyed and damaged by our soldiers in the amount of 8,956 units last year. This is equivalent to the number of BBM of more than 37 motorized rifle divisions. The most enemy armored vehicles were destroyed and disabled in October 2024 – 923 units. Such a number of combat armored vehicles destroyed in a month cost the aggressor nation’s budget at least half a billion US dollars. A record for a day was set on November 12 – 81 BBM.

Last year, Ukrainian warriors also destroyed 13,050 enemy artillery pieces. This would have been enough to equip 725 artillery battalions. The greatest losses in artillery for the Russian army occurred in July – 1,520 artillery systems.
