"Ramstein-25": the meeting will discuss the strategy of supporting Ukraine until 2027
At the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the 25th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) will take place on January 9, where Ukraine’s defence capabilities up to 2027 will be determined.
This is reported by the Pentagon.
Main details:
U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will convene this landmark meeting, bringing together defense ministers and military leaders from over 50 countries. Participants will discuss Ukraine’s key battlefield needs, as well as long-term strategic goals, including:
- ensuring the continuous supply of air defense systems, artillery ammunition, armored vehicles;
 - developing capabilities in the areas of demining, drones, maritime security, IT, as well as integrated air and missile defence.

Creation of roadmaps
A key part of the meeting is the approval of "roadmaps" for the development of Ukraine’s military capabilities. This will enable partner countries to plan their support and assistance to Ukraine in the long term.
UDCG is a multilateral initiative created in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion. Since its inception in April 2022, allies have allocated over 126 billion dollars in security assistance to Ukraine.
The future of UDCG
Despite a change in administration in the U.S., Pentagon representatives are confident that the coalition will remain effective due to strong cooperation with European partners. Although for Secretary Austin this will be the last meeting in his role as head of the Pentagon, the Contact Group will continue its activity.
The next, 25th UDCG meeting, will be key in laying the foundation for strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the coming years.
