One of the Godfathers of the hryvnia: distinguished Ukrainian economist Volodymyr Pylypchuk has passed away

At the age of 76, prominent Ukrainian economist, scientist, public and political figure, and one of the founders of Ukrainian independence, Volodymyr Pylypchuk, passed away.

The announcement about this was posted on Wednesday, January 22, on his Facebook page.

"Today, January 22, 2025, we lost not just a Ukrainian politician, scientist, state and public figure, but a Man with a capital M, Volodymyr Pylypchuk," the post states.

Volodymyr Pylypchuk died in a city hospital in Rivne following complications caused by a stroke.

"We all knew him as a dedicated, just, and honest person, as a loyal friend, as someone you could turn to for advice and help. For his family, he was a wonderful husband, loving father, and grandfather who always cared for the life and health of his children, grandchildren, and other relatives," the family statement says.
