The Ministry of Defence clarified the conditions for the return of military personnel after unauthorized abandonment of the unit

Service members who left their unit after November 29, 2024, will not be able to return to service through a simplified procedure, according to the Ministry of Defence.

Until March 1, 2025, service members who left their unit voluntarily for the first time can return to service without criminal liability through a simplified procedure. However, for those who left after November 29, the standard procedure applies, which includes the consent of the unit commander, a criminal investigation, and a court decision upon the prosecutor’s request.

Restoration of service and financial support is only possible after a court decision, which may take several months.
