Yanukovych’s son profits from exporting coal from occupied Donbas to Turkey
Oleksandr Yanukovych, the son of the former president of Ukraine, controls the supply of coal from the occupied territories of Donbas to Turkey through the company "Energoresurs," registered in Rostov-on-Don.
The connection of "Energoresurs" with Yanukovych Jr. is traced through his coal holding "Mako" and the DRFC factories. In 2023–2024, the company exported nearly 500 thousand tons of coal.
The supply scheme works as follows: "Energoresurs" sells coal to the offshore company Energy Union in the British Virgin Islands at a reduced price, allowing for the minimization of export taxes. After that, the raw material is resold at market value.
Until 2022, the main buyers of coal were Bulgaria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and Romania, but after the start of the full-scale invasion, almost all exports were redirected to Turkey. Using transfer pricing mechanisms, the company generated 3.5 billion rubles in revenue in 2021–2023.
