Zelenskyy answered whether it is possible to end the war in 2025

This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to an interview for the British broadcaster ITV News.

"We really want this (the end of the war in Ukraine, ed.). And every year, to be honest, we really wanted our Western partners to have the strength to force Putin to end the war," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He believes that now there are all the possibilities for this. Moreover, in his opinion, US President Donald Trump also wants a quick end to the war.

"I believe that today there are all the possibilities for this. In my opinion, Trump wants a quick end to the war. Whether quick or not, we don’t know how it will turn out, but we know that we need to be strong. He is strong, but we need to act decisively in alliance with the Europeans," the president emphasized.

Regarding sanctions, Zelenskyy highlighted that sanctions have been introduced and they have an impact on the Russian economy, a negative impact.

"But it had time to adapt to certain sanctions. Why? Because there was always a ’gap’ - they impose banking sanctions, but not on all banks, on agriculture, but the shadow fleet is working. Now they have imposed sanctions against the shadow fleet. But again, not on all ships, not on the entire fleet. There is still work to be done. We are talking about hundreds of ships that need to be sanctioned. And on the captains, on the crews, on all the people involved," he emphasized.

He stressed that sanctions should be total to increase pressure on Russia.

He also emphasized the need for security guarantees for Ukraine to reassure the people and called for the restoration of the economy and the return of the people.

"We need our people, 8 million, to come back," said the head of Ukraine.

At the same time, the president emphasized that today’s conversation is no longer about justice for Ukraine, it is about ending the hot phase of the war.

"A fair real peace is important for us, but let’s take some steps. Security guarantees - then we can talk about stopping the hot phase of the war. Supporting our army - then we can guarantee that tomorrow we won’t be left alone. Then we can talk about the third, fourth, and fifth points," the head of state concluded.
