At the ChNPP, the sarcophagus is partially dismantled to eliminate two smoldering hotspots
At the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, work continues on extinguishing two smoldering hotspots in the roof insulation and partially uncovering the shelter structures.
This was reported on Telegram by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
"As of 12:00 on February 18, work is being carried out to partially uncover the structures and extinguish two smoldering hotspots in the roof insulation," the statement said.
Three groups of SES climbers are involved.
Continuous monitoring of the situation is also being conducted using a UAV with a thermal imager.
According to the SES, the radiation level at the Chernobyl NPP site does not exceed the norm, there is no threat to the population, and the situation is under control.
