Sanctions are being prepared against Klychko, - journalist

Sanctions may be imposed against Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klychko. The conditions for this include NABU cases related to his close circle. The restrictions are planned to be imposed similarly to those applied against Petro Poroshenko, as the Financial Monitoring Service is gathering information about the capital’s head.

This was stated by Radio NV political analyst Yuliya Zabelina. According to her, the goal of the corruption investigations, which have been named "Clean City," is to weaken the financial flows around Klitschko and eventually target him directly.

She emphasized that it was the Financial Monitoring Service that developed the sanctions against Petro Poroshenko, as the SSU and DIU allegedly refused to intervene. And now, according to her, the Financial Monitoring Service is gathering information to prepare similar sanctions against Klychko.

"There is, of course, a political process that is currently led by the President’s Office, as the most influential structure in the country, which realistically manages almost all processes. They aim to clear the political field, weaken their political competitors by somehow depriving them of financial flows and opportunities to conduct financial transactions," Zabelina noted.

Sanctions against Klychko could concern partners

The source of information about sanctions against Klitschko is NV journalist. The NV publication is associated with businessman Tomas Fiala, who is also threatened with sanctions. Information about this appeared in several Telegram channels traditionally associated with the President’s Office.

Meanwhile, it was not difficult to impose sanctions against Poroshenko after Biden’s resignation. In the Trump administration, no one stepped up to defend him.

However, sanctions against Klychko could raise concerns among European partners. Notably, Klychko visited Germany, where he enjoys high popularity. He also actively communicates with his political friends in Europe through posts on social media.

It can be assumed that the topic of sanctions is being considered, and Klychko himself is aware of it and is reminding Europeans of his presence. Thus, he might be trying to counteract such decisions.
