How many occupiers are fighting in Ukraine: data from the DIU
As of today, the size of the Russian Federation’s ground army fighting against Ukraine exceeds 600,000 personnel. There are also support units.
This was reported by the Deputy Chief of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“If we talk about the ground component, it’s approximately 620,000, of which over 200,000 are assault units participating in combat operations and are on the front line,” he noted.
According to Skibitskyi, there are an additional 35,000 servicemen of the Russian National Guard, who support the occupation authorities, guard important facilities in temporarily occupied territories, and, if necessary, can perform tasks in the second echelon of the enemy during the organization of defence.
Additionally, according to the DefenceIntelligence of Ukraine, there are other forces involved in logistical support, units of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, aviation that is not directly stationed in combat areas, for example, but is involved in carrying out combat strikes.
