Zelenskyy expressed his opinion regarding Senator Graham’s call to step down

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s statement regarding the necessity of his resignation. The head of state proposed granting the American Ukrainian citizenship so that his voice would carry more significance.

According to him, Graham represents a party that advocates for democratic values, but elections in Ukraine are solely the matter of the Ukrainian people. Zelenskyy said this in an interview with representatives of foreign media.

"Lindsey Graham is a very good guy, very proper. When it comes to who should be president, or whether I should resign, I can grant him Ukrainian citizenship. Lindsey. And then he will become a citizen of our country, and his voice will carry weight. I, as a citizen of the country, will hear him," the president noted.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham criticized Zelenskyy after an official visit to the White House and a meeting with Donald Trump, calling his behavior "appalling." Meanwhile, he "has never been prouder" of the Republican President of the United States, as he "stands in defense of the country."

In his opinion, the Ukrainian president has hindered further opportunities for support for Ukraine among Americans. Zelenskyy "failed to convince Americans that he is a good investment."

Graham believes that Zelenskyy needs to "either resign or give someone else the opportunity to conduct affairs with us, or change his position."

According to the senator, Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump was "a complete disaster." He stated that he supports the Ukrainian people but believes that the President of Ukraine should act differently.

Graham added that he spoke with Zelenskyy in the morning of February 28, urging him "not to succumb to provocations," while Trump "was in a very good mood last night."
