The ball is now in Russia’s court, - Rubio

This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz during a conversation with journalists.

After today’s talks with the Ukrainian delegation, which in particular concerned the ceasefire, Rubio emphasized that "the ball is now in Russia’s court."

The Secretary of State stressed that Ukraine has taken a "positive step" towards establishing peace, and he hopes that Russia will reciprocate.

"The first gesture of goodwill we could see from Russia is to take the Ukrainian proposal (for a ceasefire, - ed.) and respond with a ’yes’," added the head of the State Department.

For his part, Waltz clarified that Ukraine shares U.S. President Donald Trump’s vision on ending the war.

"They share his determination to stop the fighting," he added.
