SBGS: The occupiers are trying by any means to enter the territory of Sumy region

In the Sumy region, Russians are employing various tactics to penetrate Ukrainian territory.

According to the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, both assault units and sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) are active there.

"The enemy is using a variety of tactics to try to enter our territory," Demchenko stated in a telethon broadcast.

In particular, in the direction of the settlements Novenke, Zhuravka, and Basivka, the occupiers are deploying small assault groups to concentrate their forces as much as possible on Ukrainian territory and expand the combat zone. As the border guard explained, this section of the border directly adjoins Kursk region (RF).

"In the direction of Novenke, Zhuravka, the enemy uses small assault groups, which are destroyed by Ukrainian forces even as they approach the border or on Ukrainian territory if the occupiers manage to enter," the spokesperson clarified.

Additionally, there are ongoing attempts by enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups to infiltrate.

"We are noting more active such actions in the north of the Sumy region," Demchenko explained.

Simultaneously, according to him, other sections of the border with Russia within the Sumy region also face the risk of SRG penetration attempts. One of these was detected even as it approached the border, practically in the Sumy district, but this is a different section not connected to events in the Kursk region.

The border guard added that the sabotage groups are trying to identify the locations of Defence Forces, strike at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with their own resources, or mine the area.
