Servant of the People MP Valentyn Veremchuk did not return from a business trip to Europe
A deputy of the Berehiv District Council from the "Servant of the People" party and the head of the Anti-Corruption Sector in the State Migration Service of the Zakarpattia region, Valentyn Veremchuk, did not return from a business trip to Europe.
According to Uzhhorod City Council deputy and journalist Vitaliy Hlahola, on November 13, 2024, he crossed the border at the "Dyakove" checkpoint, where his father, Mykola Veremchuk, had worked for years as the head of the customs post. The trip was arranged as an official business trip, yet Valentyn Veremchuk did not return.
Valentyn Veremchuk is an acting deputy of the Berehiv District Council from the ruling "Servant of the People" party. His mother, Nataliya Kosteyeva-Veremchuk, is a deputy of the Vynohradiv United Territorial Community from "Servant of the People" and was formerly the first deputy head of the Vynohradiv District State Administration. In April 2023, searches were conducted in their family home, which were published on video.
Valentyn’s father, Mykola Veremchuk, has repeatedly been involved in smuggling scandals, dismissed and reinstated through the courts. He possesses a disability certificate, which the family allegedly uses situationally — either to evade mobilization or to seek leniency in criminal cases.
