Basivka under full control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — State Border Guard Service refutes breakthrough fake news
Russian occupation forces continue their attempts to break through into Ukrainian territory and establish a foothold. Ukraine’s Defence Forces are effectively destroying enemy units and currently have full control over the settlement of Basivka in the Sumy region.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon broadcast.
He noted that the Russians continue their misinformation campaign. The enemy’s tactic involves crossing the Ukrainian border in small groups using equipment, including in the direction of the settlement of Basivka.
The spokesperson emphasized that the enemy’s goal is to penetrate as deeply as possible into Ukraine, "to gather, establish themselves, wait for reinforcements, and then conduct active combat operations on Ukrainian territory."
"However, Basivka is under the full control of the components of Ukraine’s Defence Forces," Demchenko stated.
According to Demchenko, Ukraine’s Defence Forces continue to hold positions in all directions where the enemy is attempting to penetrate deeper into Ukrainian territory.
"Our guys from the State Border Guard Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are maximizing the destruction of the enemy - both those groups crossing the border on quad bikes and those groups that are still approaching our border line," Demchenko added.
The spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service stressed that it is impossible to rule out the possibility of further expansion of the combat zone within the Sumy region, as it covers a responsibility strip of over 530 kilometers. Therefore, Ukrainian defenders must be ready to counter enemy assault groups, sabotage and reconnaissance groups, or other larger forces if the enemy attempts to use them.
"For this reason, each component of Ukraine’s Defence Forces has its defense strip and strengthens positions in fortification terms to make it easier for the soldiers to contain the enemy on all fronts," the spokesperson said.
