Ukraine captured two Chinese military personnel, - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian Defence Forces in Donetsk have captured two Chinese military personnel. They had documents with them that confirm their Chinese citizenship.

Zelenskyy made such a statement on the official Telegram channel, as well as during a joint briefing with the Prime Minister of Belgium on April 8, reports OBOZ.UA correspondent. According to the president, Kyiv is currently awaiting explanations from the Chinese side.

"Our military captured two Chinese citizens who were fighting as part of the Russian army. This happened on the territory of Ukraine – in Donetsk. There are documents of these captives, bank cards, personal data," – stated the head of state.

Zelenskyy added that the detained Chinese individuals are in the Security Service of Ukraine, ongoing relevant investigative and operational actions are underway.

"We have information that there are significantly more such Chinese citizens in the occupier’s units than just two. All facts are being clarified now. Intelligence, SSU, and relevant units of the Armed Forces are working," – he reported.

The president reported that he instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine "to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China plans to react."

"Russia’s involvement of China, both directly or indirectly, in this war in Europe – is a clear signal that Putin intends to do anything except end the war. He is looking for ways to continue the fighting. This unequivocally requires a reaction. A reaction from the United States, Europe, and everyone in the world who wants peace," – emphasized Zelenskyy.
