At the construction of the Podilskyi Bridge in Kyiv, 153 million hryvnias were stolen

"It was established that the officials, in prior collusion with representatives of several commercial companies during the construction of the Podilskyi bridge crossing over the Dnipro River, organized the procurement of nylon nets at significantly inflated prices. In particular, companies from the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates purchased a net at a factory in Turkey for 110 dollars and then imported it to Ukraine and sold it to the municipal enterprise at six times the price, as confirmed by customs documents," the statement said.

The press service notes that in this way, from 2017 to 2021, the suspects caused more than 153 million UAH in damages to the budget. This is also confirmed by conducted forensic examinations.

Currently, three figures in the case have been notified of suspicion under part 5 of article 191 (embezzlement, misappropriation of property, or possession through abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The operational support is provided by the Security Service of Ukraine, and the procedural guidance is carried out by the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

As reported, the BES in Kyiv recently uncovered an organized criminal group engaged in the distribution of counterfeit US currency. During authorized searches, BES detectives seized cash amounting to over 10,000 dollars.
