The director of the Sumy Regional Employment Center committed suicide
In the evening of April 22, according to the police, Leonid Chepulskyi, the director of the Sumy Regional Employment Center, ended his life with a machine gun at his own dacha. The police have launched a criminal investigation marked as "suicide."
This information was confirmed to Suspilne by the Sumy Regional Police Department.
Leonid Chepulskyi was 50 years old, born in Kharkiv, and received his education in Sumy at the A.S. Makarenko Pedagogical Institute with a specialization in "History of Ukraine, World History, and Practical Psychology." He obtained the qualification of "teacher of Ukrainian history, world history, and practical psychologist in educational institutions." In 2013, he acquired a second higher education at the Sumy National Agrarian University with a specialization in "Industrial and Civil Construction," qualifying as a "civil engineer."
Since September 7, 2023, he has headed the Sumy Regional Employment Center, according to the organization’s website. Until 2024, Leonid Chepulskiy was a member of the executive committee of the Sumy City Council.
In the evening of April 22, Leonid ended his life with a machine gun at his own dacha in the Sumy region. The police have launched a criminal investigation under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, "premeditated murder," marked as "suicide."
"Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway to understand why the person acted in this way," the Sumy Regional Police Department informed Suspilne.
