"Information leaks": A well-known Ukrainian Telegram channel was suspected of spreading fakes about "shaheds"
A popular Telegram channel in Ukraine, "Trukha," has disseminated information regarding the modernization of Shahed-type drones by the Russians. Specifically, the channel referred to a publication by the InformNapalm community; however, it did not disclose the data mentioned by "Trukha".
This is reported by Telegraf.
This is stated in a joint statement from InformNapalm and "Cyber Resistance." The statement was published on his Facebook page by Ukrainian military journalist and InformNapalm founder Roman Burko. It is noted that the information spread by "Trukha" was neither in the AlabugaLeaks dumps nor in the publications of InformNapalm.
"Although ’Trukha’ makes a reference to our article, the data presented in their post was not in the dumps or the research. It is likely that unidentified actors are inserting this information through ’Trukha’ while referring to the InformNapalm article to legitimize their own information, which may be distorted or false," the statement said.
It is worth noting that later "Trukha" edited their post about the "Shaheds". They added references to Russian media, which, in turn, refer to "leaked files". However, no specific source of this information was provided. The post allegedly mentions increasing the warhead of Shahed drones to 90 kg and using a Kyivstar SIM card.
Updated: Later, "Trukha" commented on this situation. They noted that "there was a misunderstanding with InformNapalm."
"We want to clarify the situation. Since the night, information about leaked Russian documents began to spread, including improvements to the ’Shaheds’ with all the specifications. We made a post referring to the InformNapalm publication, where we took part of the information from the leaked documents and used it for confirmation. To complement the publication, we added information that was taken from other sources, including Russian media. We apologize, the information was presented not quite correctly," the message said.
