In Spain, a state of emergency has been declared due to a massive power outage
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Spain declared a state of emergency following a nationwide blackout that hit the country on April 28.
As a result of the incident, all seven nuclear power plants in the country were left without external power supply. The power units were shut down in a standard procedure, diesel generators are ensuring stable operation of critical safety systems, and the cooling of the reactors continues according to nuclear safety requirements.
The National regulator of Spain (CSN) activated crisis protocols to minimize risks and ensure control over the situation.
