In Russia, they plan to strengthen checks on Ukrainians, — CCD
In Russia, checks on Ukrainian citizens will be intensified, regardless of their length of residence in Russia or level of integration.
This was reported in Telegram by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.
“Under the pretext of combating terrorism, Russia has begun actively discussing strengthening control over Ukrainian citizens. In particular, this was stated by the commander of the Kadyrov special forces ’Akhmat’, Apti Alaudinov. Media reports have also appeared suggesting that the Kremlin is indeed considering intensifying checks, accounting, and restrictions for Ukrainian citizens, regardless of their length of residence in Russia or level of integration,” the message reads.
It is noted that this could affect settlers from temporarily occupied regions, residents of occupied territories who have recently been forced to acquire Russian citizenship, or those who moved to Russia many years ago.
The Center emphasized that such steps indicate a new phase of repressive policy: Ukrainians are increasingly perceived as an “internal enemy,” even though Russian propaganda has promised support and encouraged Ukrainians to move to Russia for the past 11 years.
