The Armed Forces of Ukraine will have halal and kosher rations, - Ministry of Defence

For the first time, halal and kosher rations will be included in the daily diets for Ukrainian servicemen, developed with consideration of the soldiers’ religious beliefs and the enhancement of food standards in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

"The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has approved an updated technical specification for the daily field food pack. Now, in addition to the standard ones, halal and kosher rations can be purchased for servicemen. This is intended to improve the nutrition of soldiers in accordance with their religious needs."

The updated ration still includes three meals—a breakfast, lunch, and dinner—but now its assortment is adapted to the cultural and religious needs of the military. The menu includes borscht with beef, soups and porridges with meat, natural honey, jams, tea, and coffee. Products are packed in retort pouches, allowing meals to be stored without refrigeration.

Halal rations comply with Islamic dietary laws and are manufactured according to standards certified by accredited bodies.

Kosher rations are developed in accordance with kashrut requirements, adhering to strict ingredient restrictions.

As reported by the Ministry of Defence, the "Military Logistics Operator" will soon announce a tender for the purchase of a new batch of rations, which will include both halal and kosher ones according to the new technical specification.
