Chmut explained how Ukraine can defend itself against Russian ballistic missiles
The hypothetical absence of American Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine does not mean our defeat in the war. Any kind of "hardware" cannot guarantee peace or protection. However, when it comes to protection against Russian ballistic missiles, there are several real alternatives to Western weapons.
This was stated by the director of the Army Competent Assistance Fund "Come Back Alive," Taras Chmut, in an interview for LIGA.net.
"We somehow fought without [Western weapons, — ed.], right? We fought without everything in February and March of ’22, and without F-16s, and without Bradleys, and without ’leopards’, and without everything else. But somehow we managed to fight, and quite well at that. So, maybe the essence is not in the hardware, but in something else?" — Chmut noted.
In his opinion, there are several ways to counteract Russian ballistic missiles:
-
striking missile weapon production and arsenals in Russia;
-
eliminating people who use these missiles;
-
organizing sabotage behind Russian lines to disable military equipment and assets;
-
seeking alternatives from other manufacturers.
"And we are doing this, and trying. We simply cannot destroy all ’Iskander’ production in Russia in a month. We can’t reach North Korea and destroy production in China. It’s a constant struggle between resources, problems, opportunities, and time constraints," — Taras Chmut remarked.
