In Nikopol, a man opened fire on a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center worker during a document check
In Nikopol, a conflict arose between a local resident and an employee of the TRC. During the altercation, the civilian took out a gun. The attacker fired a shot towards the TrC employee.
This was reported on the page of the Nikopol District Police Department.
The police received a report from an employee of the Nikopol District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support regarding the incident.
On May 10, around 10 a.m., near a store in Nikopol, TRC workers were checking residents’ military registration documents. During the check of a 34-year-old resident of Nikopol, a verbal conflict arose between him and the TRC employee. After this, the civilian took out a weapon and fired a single shot toward the serviceman and fled the scene. Fortunately, the serviceman was unharmed.
Police officers detained the suspect within a few hours and confiscated the weapon along with ammunition, preliminarily identified as a signal pistol. The weapon was sent for forensic examination. The perpetrator was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It was established that the suspect had previously been criminally liable for committing serious crimes.
On May 11, the man was charged under Part 4 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He is currently held in custody as a preventive measure. Investigative actions continue. The article’s sanction provides for imprisonment of up to seven years.
