The European Union is considering the option of imposing a full trade embargo against Russia

The EU is considering the possibility of imposing tariffs on Russian exports up to a full trade embargo.

This was reported by Politico with reference to European officials.

Today, May 16, EU countries and their neighbors, including the United Kingdom and Ukraine, are gathering in Albania for a summit of the European Political Community. Discussions at the summit will focus on significantly strengthening sanctions against Russia.

According to two diplomats, potential measures against Moscow may include tariffs on Russian exports up to a full trade embargo.

After the start of the full-scale war, the European Union imposed significant sanctions against Russia but refrained from a full trade embargo. Previously, the introduction of EU tariffs was considered as an option to bypass Hungary’s resistance to sanctions.
