Promised to negotiate with the judge for $1500: a fraudulent lawyer was detained in Prykarpattia
An attorney from the Ivano-Frankivsk region has been exposed for inciting a client to bribe a judge.
This was reported by NABU, SAPO, and the Strategic Investigations Unit of the National Police in the region.
The investigation established that the lawyer proposed to his client to "solve the issue" of closing an administrative case. The case concerned proceedings for a driver’s refusal to undergo a sobriety test. For his services, the attorney requested 1,500 US dollars—allegedly to be handed over to the judge.
However, as investigators found out, the attorney did not plan to hand over the money to the judge. He intended to keep the received funds for himself.
Law enforcement officers informed the suspect of the suspicion of inciting the provision of improper advantage. The investigation is ongoing.
