Zelenskyy on the SSU operation "Spider Web": This is Ukraine’s most long-range and brilliant special operation

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented for the first time on the large-scale SSU operation called "Spider Web", which was conducted on June 1 in the territory of Russia.

In his post on the Telegram channel, the head of state noted the exceptional effectiveness of the operation, calling it an "absolutely brilliant result" and emphasized that it is entirely an independent initiative of Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, the preparation for this special operation lasted 1 year, 6 months, and 9 days. The President emphasized that this is the most long-range operation of the Ukrainian special services. He also added that all Ukrainian participants in the operation were successfully withdrawn from the territory of Russia after the completion of the mission.

"I thanked General Maliuk for this success of Ukraine. I instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to inform the public about the details and results of the operation that can be disclosed. Of course, we cannot tell everything now, but these are Ukrainian actions that will definitely be in history textbooks," wrote Zelenskyy.

He emphasized that Ukraine is defending itself, and it is completely justified. In particular, it is doing everything to make Russia feel the necessity to end this war.

The head of state also concluded that Russia started this war, and the aggressor country must end it.

Moreover, in a evening address Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed the details of this operation. According to the guarantor, the actions were conducted exclusively against military targets – specifically against the equipment that was used in strikes against Ukraine.

Very significant losses for Russia, and absolutely fair, deserved losses for them. I thank the Security Service and personally General Maliuk, as well as everyone who was involved in the operation," said the head of state.

He also noted that it can be confidently stated that this is an absolutely unique operation. The most interesting thing is that the "office" of the Ukrainian operation in Russia was located directly next to the FSB management in one of their regions.

"A total of 117 drones were used in the operation. And the corresponding number of drone operators worked. Our people operated in various Russian regions, in three time zones. And our people were withdrawn from Russia ahead of the operation, and now they are in a safe place," noted the president.
