Mayor of Lviv Sadovyi is fact-checking the scandal involving activist Nazariy Husakov

After the police launched two criminal investigations based on information recently released in the media, Sadovyi announced on social media that the city hall had received many inquiries from journalists regarding the situation with Husakov, and the authorities are now verifying all the facts.

"We have made the appropriate inquiries to the Ukrainian embassy in Italy and the Italian embassy in Ukraine. We request maximum information, particularly whether Nazariy is part of any state or municipal support program. This is important to understand what assistance he might have received recently, aside from aid from the city of Lviv and known charitable contributions," the mayor wrote.

He emphasized that they remain ready to continue purchasing necessary medications for Nazariy and another person on this program. However, according to procedure, these medications can only be obtained in Lviv.

Sadovyi added that last week he had a brief conversation with Nazariy, who confirmed his trip abroad.

"His family doctor also knows that he has traveled to Italy multiple times for short periods. As far as we understand, his mother lives there. It’s important to note that he did not leave after the scandal erupted — it was a planned trip that took place before any public suspicions about possible misconduct began to emerge," the mayor explained.

According to him, Husakov plans to return to Ukraine, as he requires treatment.

Currently, the city authorities are cooperating with investigative journalists and the police, providing them with all available documents and facts to uncover the truth.
