In the Kharkiv region, underground factories for the illegal production of cigarettes were uncovered

Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security uncovered 3 individuals who organized an illegal cigarette production workshop in Kharkiv. The investigation into the illegal manufacture of tobacco products has been completed. The indictment has been submitted to the court.

During the investigation, it was established that three residents of Kharkiv organized an underground production of tobacco products. For this purpose, they set up a warehouse on the premises of a private estate. There, they installed special equipment for the mass production of filter cigarettes. In addition, they established a supply of tobacco.

The illegal products were manufactured for sale within the territory of Ukraine. During sanctioned searches, Bureau of Economic Security employees seized 9 production machines, raw materials for making cigarettes, and nearly 10,000 packs of finished products without the necessary permits.

The production capacity of just one of the seized machines was about 5,000 packs of cigarettes per day.
