The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized the killers who murdered Colonel Ivan Voronych of the SSU in Kyiv. The criminals were identified as a man and a woman — agents of Russian special services acting on orders from the FSB of the Russian Federation.

This was reported on the morning of July 13 by the head of the agency, Lieutenant General Vasyl Malyuk. It is noted that he personally led the special operation to locate the murderers of the Ukrainian defender.

According to him, the FSB’s intelligence-combat group had been sent to Ukraine in advance and committed the murder of the SSU officer three days ago.

"As a result of clandestine search, proactive counter-intelligence measures, the hostile hideout was discovered. During the apprehension, they began to resist, leading to a firefight, and thus the scoundrels were eliminated. I want to remind you that the enemy’s only prospect on the territory of Ukraine is death!" commented the head of the Ukrainian special service.

According to the investigation, the colonel’s murder was carried out by two individuals, whom a coordinator instructed to monitor the SSU employee, determine his daily schedule, and routes. Later, the coordinator provided the killers with the coordinates of a stash where a silenced pistol was located.

After committing the murder, the killers attempted to "lay low." However, SSU and National Police officers located their whereabouts in the Kyiv region. On Sunday morning, July 13, a special operation was conducted during which members of the FSB RF’s intelligence-combat group resisted, and thus they were eliminated.

Malyuk thanked the Department of Criminal Investigation of the National Police for their professionalism and support. He emphasized that effective counteraction to Russian special services is a key area of activity for the Security Service. In particular, they act proactively and prevent 85% of crimes that the enemy attempts to commit on the territory of Ukraine.

Recall: the murder of 50-year-old SSU officer Ivan Voronych took place on July 10 in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. The colonel was leaving his house and heading to his car when an unknown person approached him and fired several point-blank shots, resulting in his death.
