The CCD warns about the activation of Russian fakes regarding "protests for capitulation" in Ukraine
During the next two weeks, Russians may increase the use of the topic of protests in Ukraine, claiming that the people allegedly demand capitulation and the overthrow of the government.
This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
"The Center predicts that in the next two weeks, Russian propaganda will intensify the use of the topic of protests in Ukraine in their informational campaigns. It is expected that hostile resources will spread false claims that the Ukrainian people allegedly demand ‘capitulation,’ ‘overthrow of the government,’ and ‘ending the war at any cost’," states the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
It is also predicted that Russian information operations aimed at the population of Ukrainian frontline regions will be intensified.
It is indicated that the enemy will spread fake news about the evacuation of military administration employees, provocative "leaks" on behalf of Ukrainian military personnel or local authorities, etc., with the aim of intimidating people and creating the impression of the collapse of the Armed Forces’ defence.
"It is also expected that the Russians will continue their informational manipulations – from attempts to discredit Ukraine in the context of negotiations in Istanbul to spinning the topic of prisoner exchanges and undermining trust in Ukrainian air defence forces," concludes the Center.
