Ukraine expands 5G trials
The Kyiv Aviation Institute, together with Vodafone, has opened the first university 5G space in Ukraine. Students, faculty, and visitors to the institute can experience the fastest access to the network.
This was reported with reference to the Vice Prime Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
“The launch of 5G in Ukraine is an important step. Despite the war and unprecedented challenges in the telecom sector and infrastructure destruction, we are implementing our plan and actively testing the technology,” the statement says.
Now students, faculty, and visitors of the higher education institution can independently experience the advantages of the fifth-generation network – speeds of up to 10 Gbps, latency of less than 1 ms, and free access for anyone with a 5G device and a Vodafone SIM card.
Until now, 5G in Ukraine was tested only in operator offices and at industrial facilities.
