Since the beginning of the year, 23 war criminals have been identified in the Donetsk region
This year in the Donetsk region, prosecutors have identified and reported suspicion of violations of the laws and customs of war to 23 war criminals.
This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Indictments have been sent to the courts regarding seven representatives of the Russian Federation:
- servicemen of military unit 74854;
- members of the illegal armed formations "DPR";
- employees of a correctional colony.
One of the "DPR military commissars" has been notified of suspicion.
They are charged with violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 2, Article 28; Part 1, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that during the capture of settlements, representatives of the Russian army committed atrocities against local residents.
"Rape, cruel beating of Ukrainian Armed Forces prisoners of war, abuse of those held in the ’Kalininsky correctional colony’ in Horlivka, sending residents of occupied Donetsk and Khartsyzk to the front. Lawlessness and abuse of people have become the norm, even in places of detention created under occupation," the Office of the Prosecutor General noted.
