Media: USA proposed to “freeze” the status of occupied territories for up to 99 years

The USA has proposed to Russia to postpone the issue of recognizing the occupied territories of Ukraine for 49 or 99 years as part of a peace agreement, reports the Polish portal Onet citing sources.

According to them, Witkoff conveyed a plan to Putin that was agreed upon with Europeans. Key provisions:

- a ceasefire, not the establishment of peace,

- "de facto recognition of Russia’s territorial gains (by postponing this issue for 49 or 99 years)",

- the lifting of most sanctions, and in the long term, the restoration of energy cooperation with Russia, which includes importing Russian gas and oil;

At the same time, the USA does not offer Russia any guarantees regarding NATO expansion (thus leaving Ukraine the right to join the Alliance) and does not promise to stop military support for Ukraine. According to Onet, Moscow accepts the last point.

At the moment, there is no confirmation of the authenticity of this plan.
