Zelenskyy: Russia is doing everything to prevent Trump from imposing sanctions against it

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that Russia is currently doing everything possible to delay the end of the war in Ukraine.

The head of state stated this during a press conference with Mark Rutte.

"I believe that a week or two ago, Russia was in the same position, and it does not seek to end the war. It has decided to use ultimatums to postpone the possible end of this war. They are doing everything to ensure that President Trump does not impose sanctions on them and that the US does not exert its influence," Zelenskyy emphasized.

He also noted that Russia’s intentions have indeed not changed.

"The visit to Washington demonstrated the unity of Europe. Within a single day, leaders gathered and arrived, which is a great achievement for Ukraine. It is also a powerful signal to the US about how the countries of the world are uniting. Very quickly, as they are fully on Ukraine’s side," the president remarked.

According to the head of state, the involvement of the US in security guarantees for Ukraine is a success for Europe.

"Perhaps I am saying ’success’ too loudly, but today it truly looks like a success. Because Ukraine needs security guarantees. But without the US, Europe cannot provide all the opportunities it is capable of ensuring. The reasons for this are clear. ... I don’t know how this will all end, but the situation is better than it was a week or two ago. This unification in Washington has happened. These are only initial political steps, but our teams are working on security guarantees. This is an important signal from America and from the president (Trump. - Ed.)," he concluded.
