Russia shelled 25 settlements in the Sumy region: there are dead and injured civilians

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration in Telegram.

Overall, from the morning of August 22 to the morning of August 23, 2025, Russian troops carried out almost 70 shellings of 25 settlements in 13 territorial communities of the region. The most shellings were recorded in the Sumy, Shostka, and Konotop districts.

«As a result of Russian shelling of the region’s territory, there are fatalities and injuries among civilians. In the Znob-Novhorodske community, a man born in 1962 was injured due to an airstrike using GAB», – the message states.

It is also reported that in the Seredino-Budska community, a man born in 1971 died in a hospital from injuries sustained on August 19.

The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs, and dropped VOG grenades from UAVs, carrying out more than 20 GAB strikes and up to 20 VOG drops from UAVs. Russian military also attacked the Sumy region with FPV drones and UAVs.

As a result of Russian aggression, civilian infrastructure objects have been damaged and destroyed. In particular, there are reports of damage to a private residential house and a car in the Sumy community.

In the Znob-Novhorodske community, eight two-story apartment buildings, a House of Culture, two private households, non-residential premises, a store, and a tractor were damaged.

In the Velykopysarivska community, an auto repair shop was damaged, and in the Bilopilska community, 2 two-story apartment buildings, 3 private households, a non-residential premise, and a civilian infrastructure object were damaged.

Non-residential premises were damaged in the Novoslobidska and Konotopska communities, and in the Seredino-Budska community, a private residential house was damaged.

During the day, 12 people were evacuated by local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and community organizations from the border communities.
