In Russia, an oil refinery has been on fire for the third day after a UAV attack by the AFU
In Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov region, an oil refinery (OR) has been burning for the third day after being attacked by drones of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. On the morning of Saturday, August 23, the fire spread to a new tank.
This is evidenced by videos from the scene of the fire that have appeared online.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Novoshakhtinsk, Sergey Bondarenko, announced on the evening of Friday, August 22, that the fire is being extinguished "at the Novoshakhtinsk industrial enterprise."
"Specialists from emergency response services continue to extinguish the fire at the Novoshakhtinsk industrial enterprise," Bondarenko wrote in the official Telegram channel.
According to the mayor of Novoshakhtinsk, on August 21, ten tankers from two fire-rescue units, the regional search and rescue service, and municipal enterprises were involved in transporting water used for cooling and extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters used two motor pumps to refill the tankers, Bondarenko stated.
On Friday, August 22, eight tankers were used, which were refilled using motor pumps from open reservoirs.
A foam extinguishing vehicle has been deployed to assist the professionals.
Ambulance teams are on standby at the scene.
"The site is cordoned off by law enforcement officers," stated the mayor.
