Ukrainians are celebrating the thirty-fourth anniversary of the restoration of Independence in battle with an ancient enemy. For twelve years, we have been fighting for our freedom. For the fourth year, we have been repelling a full-scale invasion. The Ukrainian people will never submit and will never surrender their Independence.

This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"Today, we continue the great work of Ukrainian Heroes of the past, who fought for an independent Ukraine with sweat and blood.

History proves: Independence is a matter for the strong. It is not given as a gift. It is earned and defended.

True Independence is impossible without a strong and modern army.

For the right of the people to be free, our military pays the highest price. We remember every fallen soldier...

I thank each and every one who holds the line and moves forward in this powerful formation. Who fights for freedom with weapons in hand and destroys the enemy. Who strengthens our defense and supports our army.

I am confident: we will defend our Independence. Its best guarantee is our military. Every brave soldier, sergeant, and officer.
