In Poltava region, a female military officer regularly vacationed at foreign resorts while receiving a salary, – SBI

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations exposed a female soldier from one of the military units in the Poltava region who regularly left her place of service illegally to vacation at foreign resorts.

The case concerns a senior sergeant from one of the military units located in the Poltava region. According to investigators, during 2022-2024, the soldier left her place of service eight times to vacation at foreign resorts, including in Montenegro and Poland.

«Despite her absence from service, the woman continued to receive financial support. The unit’s leadership did not respond to her absences, resulting in nearly 190,000 UAH being unjustifiably paid from the state budget,» the SBI statement reads.

The soldier has been charged with evading military service through deception during martial law (Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and fraud causing significant damage (Part 3 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). She faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

It is noted that the suspect has already reimbursed the state for the illegally received financial support. Investigators are also examining the actions of the military unit’s command, which continued to pay the woman despite her absence from service.
