In Kyiv, almost 70% of schools damaged during Russian shelling have been restored

In Kyiv, the restoration of educational institutions damaged as a result of Russia’s terrorist attacks continues. As of August 2025, almost 70% of them have been repaired.

This was reported by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Valentyn Mondryivskyi, according to the press service of the department. The enemy deliberately targets civilian infrastructure.

According to the official, a total of 245 educational institutions in the capital have been damaged since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The restoration work is being carried out with the city’s budget and support from international partners.

Throughout 2024–2025, specialists have completed restoration work in 168 of them. Work is ongoing at 45 other sites, while the rest are in the design stage or waiting for funding. Priority is given to repairing roofs, windows, heating, and water supply systems.

In parallel with building restoration, shelters are being equipped, and educational rooms and sports infrastructure are being updated.

"At the same time, to ensure that the educational process begins in all schools, the format of schooling in damaged institutions will be adjusted," Mondryivskyi noted.
