The NSDC commented on Putin’s statement regarding strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector
The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed that the aggressor country allegedly had never previously attacked Ukraine’s energy sector and only recently started doing so in response to Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s oil industry. This statement from the Kremlin leader suggests that Putin is preparing an informational alibi to justify new terrorist strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector.
This was stated by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council, Defence Forces officer Andriy Kovalenko. He called the Russian dictator a "common liar" and emphasized that the latter’s statements "have nothing to do with reality."
Andriy Kovalenko reminded that Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector began back in 2022, with the occupiers "systematically attacking Ukraine’s energy sector" as part of their "war against civilians."
Indeed, the Russians typically attack during winter preparations and directly in the winter (in regions bordering Russia, such strikes have never stopped).
Currently, Putin is trying to justify his current strikes and lies about allegedly responding to Ukraine’s hits on oil refineries.
"A common liar. Unfortunately, Putin regularly participates in Russia’s informational operations. This is just part of another operation aimed at an audience in the West and the Global South. It’s an attempt to shift the responsibility for further terror against Ukrainians onto us," explained the head of the CCD.
