Ukraine has been trying to involve Poland and other NATO countries in the war since its beginning.

This was stated by former Polish President Duda.

He cited as an example the incident with a missile that fell on Polish territory in the fall of 2022. He confirmed that Zelenskyy at the time insisted on an immediate statement that it was a Russian missile and agreed with the journalist’s opinion that in this way Zelenskyy wanted to draw Warsaw into the conflict.

"You could say that. It’s obvious in their interests. It would be most beneficial for them if they could involve NATO countries in the war. This has been happening from the very beginning. The desire of the leaders of a country in Ukraine’s position is for NATO to stand shoulder to shoulder with them. For the military to immediately receive NATO assistance: tanks, soldiers with equipment, fighting alongside them against Russia. Everyone dreams of this, and we would too if we were in their place. However, we, Poland, as a NATO country, could not agree to this," Duda stated.
